Ayr Utd's Lawrence Shankland is in high demand after scoring 19 goals in 17 appearances this season, with Swansea City reportedly interested in signing the 23-year-old striker. The Honest Men's manager Ian McCall has stated that the club will not consider less than a 'significant' bid for Shankland, who has been in prolific form for the Scottish Championship side.
What's his story?
Lawrence Shankland started his career with Queens Park and did well there, before sealing a move to Aberdeen. The move to the Dons didn't really work out, despite scoring plenty for their age-grade sides. Various loan stints followed, before Ayr United took him on a short-term deal in June 2017. He hasn't stopped scoring since.
What's the competition like?
Rangers have shown interest in his services and Swansea will face a battle to sign him - Shankland is a Rangers supporter. He is sparked rumours by attending Rangers' Europa League match against Spartak Moscow last week with his girlfriend. Sunderland have also been mentioned, with Black Cats boss Jack Ross having worked with the striker at St Mirren.
So Swansea won't get him, then?
Well, according to the Scottish Daily Mail, Swansea are trying to get a deal wrapped up now for the centre-forward. It's reported that Liberty chiefs will either make a cash bid or attempt to agree a pre-contract for Shankland, with his current deal expiring at the end of the campaign. Swansea have raided Scotland many times before, so this could well be a goer.
What has he said?
Speaking of Dundee's interest in the summer, he said: 'If it is a Premiership team that's interested, it's a step up again, but I'm not scared to do it. 'But, when it happens, it happens. I'm not in a rush to move on from here.' Ayr manager Ian McCall has said the club will not consider less than a 'significant' bid for Shankland.
