Ayr United have confirmed their biggest turnover in the club's history with a £2 million 'spike' revealed. The Scottish Championship club detailed how they had brought in a vast sum thanks to recent investments in the Somerset Hub as well as a growth in attendances from supporters.

The club say they netted a profit of just shy of £20,000 for the year ending June 2023 and that's without even factoring in the sale of top striker Dipo Akinyemi to York City which represents one of the highest fees the club have ever received.

Ayr chairman David Smith said: 'When I first came into the club we proposed a long term vision for how we would build the club to achieve the potential that we felt was always there. These results demonstrate that we are well on our way to realising that potential.'
The club's report read: 'Ayr United posted its best turnover in the club’s history as the football club continues its impressive progress both on and off the field.'
The club's financial report also highlighted a substantial turnaround in the club's balance sheet, with a positive of £68,000 compared to a loss of £1.4 million in 2019.
