Ayr Utd's Somerset Park has been targeted by a thief who stole a life-saving defibrillator. The incident occurred yesterday lunchtime when a mobile defibrillator was taken from a car parked outside the stadium.

What happened?

The defibrillator was inside a rucksack in the car, along with other items that were also stolen. Andy McInnes, the Walking Football co-ordinator at Ayr United Football Academy, expressed his disappointment.

Why it matters for Ayr Utd

The defibrillator is crucial for the Academy's activities, including Walking Football and Dementia Friendly Groups. It has the potential to save lives, and its absence is deeply felt.

What comes next?

The club is appealing for the return of the defibrillator, hoping that the thief's conscience will get the better of them. As of now, Ayr Utd is 7th in the Scottish Championship, with 39 points from 36 games, and a recent form of LLLWL. Their last result was a 0-1 loss to ST Johnstone on 2026-05-01.
