Ayr Utd's Somerset Park has been targeted by a thief who stole a life-saving defibrillator. The club is now appealing for its return. The defibrillator was taken from a car parked outside the stadium yesterday lunchtime. It is a crucial piece of equipment for the Ayr Utd Football Academy, which uses it for various activities, including Walking Football and Dementia Friendly Groups. The Academy's Walking Football co-ordinator, Andy McInnes, said: 'It's desperately disappointing that anyone would stoop so low. We're talking about a piece of equipment that can save lives.' The defib is on hand for those attending the Academy's busy schedule of activities, ranging from Walking Football and Dementia Friendly Groups to Football Memories sessions and the ever-popular Ayr United Strollers Walking Group. Andy added: 'I had a hunt around the immediate area in the hope that whoever did this would have thrown away the defib once they realised it was of no value to them. We can only hope that someone's conscience gets the better of them and they see fit to return it to us.'
