Josh Landers is set to complete a season-long loan move to Ayr Utd after attracting interest from EFL clubs including Cheltenham Town. The 19-year-old West Ham striker will undergo a medical ahead of the proposed switch to the Scottish Championship side.

Landers, a Scottish youth international born in Innerleithen, began his career in the Hibernian academy before joining West Ham. He scored nine goals in 12 games for the West Ham U18s and became a regular in the U21s, having already spent time on loan at Boreham Wood earlier this year during their National League play-off push.

The Hammers' transfer window closed at 11pm on Tuesday night, during which they signed Adama Boiro from Athletic Bilbao on a loan-to-buy deal. Other young West Ham players recently sent out on loan include Kaelan Casey to Stevenage, Mason Terry to Port Vale, and Luis Brown to Braintree Town, though Terry has since returned due to a hand injury.

Ayr Utd currently sit 7th in the Scottish Championship with 5 points from 5 games (1W-2D-2L), showing recent form LDLDW. They have scored 4 goals and conceded 5 this season, leaving them 8 points behind leaders Stenhousemuir. Their next fixture is an away match against Queen's Park on 2027-01-02.

The Scottish transfer window remains open until 17:00 on Thursday 3rd September, providing ample time for the loan to be completed. Landers will link up with a squad that includes first-team contributors such as Lewis Orford, who has featured in West Ham's senior setup, alongside youngsters like Airidias Golambeckis, Finlay Herrick, Ezra Mayers, and Joshua Ajala who have been involved with the first-team or bench.

Anthony Joseph said: "young Hammers striker Josh Landers is set to complete a loan move to Scottish Championship side Ayr United."

The move would see Landers gain valuable experience in a competitive Scottish Championship environment as Ayr Utd prepare for their upcoming fixtures and look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the season's second half.
